Teachers' Bargaining Unit Constitution
and Bylaws
|
 | The Constitution contains the fundamental principles governing the
bargaining unit. It fits together with the District Constitution
and the Provincial Constitution, but deals particularly with the
structure and business of the bargaining unit. |
 | The TBU Constitution Committee oversees the structure of
the Constitution and makes recommendations for its revision to
General Members' meetings. |
 | The Constitution can be amended by
motion at a General Members' Meeting. |

 | The Collective Agreement is negotiated between the District 11
Teachers' Bargaining Unit and the Thames Valley District School
Board. It outlines all of the details of the salary, benefits
and working conditions under which members of the bargaining
unit will work. |
 | It is critical that members know and understand the collective
agreement. If you think that part of the collective agreement
has been violated, contact your Branch President or the District
Office immediately. Where the collective agreement has been
violated, the District Office will intervene to try to correct it
or, if necessary, launch a Grievance to try to have the
situation remedied. |
 | This is a confidential document. There should be five copies
at each Branch. It is also accessible by going to the TVDSB
website, clicking on "My Employee Portal" and then
"View My Collective Agreement". |

 | Benefits including Extended Health coverage, Dental coverage,
Life Insurance Long Term Disability insurance and Accidental
Death and Dismemberment insurance are negotiated between the
Bargaining Unit and the Board. |
 | This is a confidential document. Each member was given a copy
of the Benefits Booklet upon enrolment. Your particular coverage
and various forms to access reimbursement or to change coverage
information can be accessed by going to the TVDSB
website, clicking on "My Employee Portal" and then
"View My Benefits". |

 | The Seniority List is published yearly. |
 | This is a confidential document. It is also accessible by going to the TVDSB
website, clicking on "My Employee Portal" and then
"View My Seniority List". |

 | Every teacher in a public secondary school must have an OSSTF
Certification Rating Statement. |
 | District 11 has produced a pamphlet for members with some
general information about Certification Rating
Statements. |
 | The provincial OSSTF website has a section entirely devoted to
OSSTF Certification. The application form and instructions for
filling it in can be found there. |
