Much of the work of the OSSTF is done by Committees made up of volunteers from the various secondary schools and worksites. The committee work helps us to fullfil the OSSTF Pledge "to promote and advance the cause of education." The Communications / Excellence in Education Committee judges the District Level Entries for the annual OSSTF Marion Drysdale Contest and provides, if necessary, logistical support for the annual Bishop Townshend Awards of Educator Excellence. The mission of the Educational Services Committee is to foster the professional growth of OSSTF members in order to enhance the quality of education in Ontario, by providing direction, knowledge, skills and resources. The Health and Safety Committee oversees workplace safety and health issues in the District. The Human Rights / Status of Women Committee advances and promotes general awareness of OSSTF policies as they relate to Human Rights and the Status of Women. The Political Action Committee monitors local and provincial politicians and politics as they relate to public education issues and makes recommendations to the Membership about those which are "education friendly". The Active Retired Members: Chapter 11 allows retired members to remain actively involved politically and socially with their colleagues.
