bulletOn calls
bulletOn-calls are used when one teacher is assigned by the Administration to cover half a period of a class of an ABSENT teacher.
bulletIn order for an on call to be "counted", it must be assigned by an administrator. Voluntarily covering another teacher’s class will not necessarily count toward your on call total. Article 18.2 for Teachers covering classes for those using the two-hour leave provisions (approved in advance by the Administration) now allows those to count toward the Teacher’s on call total.
bulletAPAs other than On-calls
bulletAPAs are counted in half periods only; they are not broken down into minutes. Therefore, if a 15 minute duty or a 37½ minutes duty is assigned, each still counts as 1 APA.
bulletSupervision must be pro-rated to credits; so a part-time teacher is responsible for a pro-rated number of APAs.
bulletGenerally speaking, all Teachers should share in all supervisions equally (in other words, have approximately the same amount of supervision in proportion to their FTE of classroom assignment) and equitably (in other words, share in the less desirable duties, such as cafeteria and hall duty, and more desirable duties, such as library or computer room supervision if they exist in your school). (Article 21.4.1)
