Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Professional Counselling for Individuals, Couples and
Families
|
Why do we have an Employee Assistance Program?
|
 | Personal difficulties at work or at home may get in the way of our
ability to work safely and effectively and to have satisfying lives.
When we are faced with a difficult situation, it is helpful to know
the EAP is there to provide confidential help. |
|
Eligible Employees
|
 | This service is available to the permanent and probationary
employees of the Thames Valley District School Board. |
 | Services are available to eligible employees and their dependents in
most major centres across Canada. |
|
Who provides the EAP Counselling?
|
 | Our Employee Assistance Program is provided as a benefit to our employees and their
dependents, through the independent services of Wilson Banwell Human
Solutions. Their program is called 'Resilience' and is part of the Health
for Life program from Manulife Financial. |
 | The counsellors are trained, fully qualified professionals
who have been serving the confidential counselling needs of individuals, couples,
and families for many years. |
 | As well, the EAP counsellors are knowledgeable about the variety of
other resources available to us in our community. |
|
Appointments
|
 | The EAP is designed to provide support, understanding and "short term"
problem solving in a relaxed and objective setting. Offices are located in
convenient locations and day and evening appointments are available. |
|
What about confidentiality?
|
 | All contacts with your EAP counsellor are confidential. At your
first appointment, your concerns will be assessed and you and your
counsellor will work out a plan to help you deal with the problem. |
 | The E.A.P. is a confidential service. No one will know that you are
accessing service. |
 | When you come for your first appointment your counsellor will provide
you with information about confidentiality. |
 | Wilson Banwell Human Solutions is compliant with current privacy legislation such as PIPEDA, or the Ontario Health Information Act. |
 | If additional information about our EAP is required, it can be
obtained by calling this toll free number: 1-866-644-0326 |
|
What does our EAP do?
|
 | Confidential, professional help and referral are available in
such areas as:
 | Personal Concerns |
 | Relationship Issues |
 | Marriage Problems |
 | Separation and Divorce Concerns |
 | Family Difficulties |
 | Adolescent Problems |
 | Aging Parent Concerns |
 | Children's Issues |
 | Abuse Issues |
 | Job Stress Concerns |
 | Chronic Pain Management |
 | Financial Concerns |
 | Grief and Loss Issues |
 | Alcohol and Drug Concerns |
 | Nutrition Problems |
|
|
What about cost?
|
 | The major cost of the Employee Assistance Program is paid for by the
Thames Valley District School Board. There is no cost for the initial
assessment appointment. Employees are expected to share minimally in the cost of
subsequent appointments. |
|
How do I contact our EAP?
|
 | You can contact our EAP by calling Wilson Banwell Human Solutions at
1-866-644-0326. |
 | When you call, please indicate that you are an employee of the
Thames Valley District School Board. |
 | All calls will be accepted 24 hours a day. Your name and phone
number will be taken and your call will be returned by a counsellor
within two business days. Day and evening appointments are available. |
|

and throughout southwestern Ontario. |
