District 11 has regional and provincial winners
in the annual Marion Drysdale Awards

District 11 is pleased to announce that we have three regional winners in the annual Marion Drysdale Awards, a writing adn creative arts contest for students, and that two of those winners went on to win the provincial level of this prestigious contrest.

At the regional level, the following students were winners:

bulletBeata Chojnicka, a student at G.A. Wheable Centre for Adult Education, won the Adult Learner Prose or Poetry Category for her submission entitled “Will Traditional Cultures Be Eaten by Hamburgers?”. Beata's teacher is Ruth McCloskey.
bulletMegan Strachan, a student at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, won the French Prose or Poetry Category with her submission entitled “Libérée de la Peur”. Megan's teacher is Annette Muellejans.
bulletLia McDonald, a student at Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute, won the Grade 9-10 Applied/Essential Prose or Poetry category for her submission entitled "Natural Disasters". Lia's teacher is Evelyn Daley.

At the provincial level, Beata's and Megan's submissions were selected as top in their respective categories. Each of these winners will receive a $300 cheque and a trip to Niagara Falls for the awards presentation ceremony at the OSSTF Annual Meeting of the Provincial Assembly on Monday, March 13, 2006.

Congratulations to our Marion Drysdale winners and to their teachers - District 11 OSSTF is very proud of all of you!
