TBU Branch Elections Information

As per Article 3.6.3 and Bylaw 3.5.2.2 of the Teachers’ Bargaining Unit Constitution, ELECTIONS for Branch Officers must be held in each branch annually. There are many opportunities for members to become involved at the branch or committee level. Please encourage them!

It is recommended that you notify your staff that NOMINATIONS open on Wednesday May 24 and close on Friday, June 2, 2006 for the positions of:

bulletBranch President
bulletSecretary (or Secretary/Treasurer)
bulletTreasurer (or Secretary/Treasurer)
bulletCollective Bargaining Committee Representative (1)

Note that the Political Action, Communication/Excellence in Education, Awards, Educational Services, and Human Rights/Status of Women Committees will all accept multiple representatives from worksites; thus, elections are unnecessary for these positions.

The ELECTION should be held at the convenience of the Branch between June 5 and June 9, 2006.

Campaigning should be limited to ONE page of literature and a speech at a Branch meeting, if possible. Photocopying can be done, if necessary, at the District Office.

Details of the Branch Executive for 2006-2007 should be conveyed to the District Office by June 16, 2006 on the 2006-2007 BRANCH EXECUTIVE form View with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
