Okay, now for the touchy part: the rules and regulations to which all hangers must follow. Some people don't like to follow them, some do, but without rules, we would live in a chaotic society. (Now there's a topic for the Politics conference!) Anyway, here they are...
Uploading Files
1. Besides being against the law, no uploads of commercial, copyrighted software are allowed to this system. And uploads which are found to be commercial will be deleted immediately. If you find a commercial file available for download, please notify the SysOp immediately so that it can be removed.
A commercial product is anything that is registered or copyrighted to anybody legally. Also, if a commercial file or program is found on HangOut BBS, the user who uploaded it will be punished as seen fit by the SysOp.
2. While HangOut BBS does automatically test files uploaded to the system, the automated test can not always find harmful virii and trojans that may be embedded in files. Therefore, you should always use a virus checker before uploading a file to the BBS. If you see anything suspicious, do not run the software and do not upload it. If a virus is found in a file uploaded by a user, they will be punished. And be sure to check while downloading, too!
3. Users may not upload Doom, Wolfenstein, etc., .WAD files to the system. The files are way too big and take up much hard disk space. If you wish, you may upload the rest of the game, but is subject to deletion.
4. Everything that is uploaded must be compressed! If there is something uploaded that is not compressed, it will be deleted. If you find something that is not zipped, please contact the SysOp. The only files allowed for compression are .ZIP files or .ARJ files. .ZIPs are preferred, however, but self-executable (.EXE) files are better.
5. Absolutely no pornography or adult content or other things of the sort are allow to be uploaded in any fashion. There are people of all ages on this board, and it is family-oriented.

Door Games
1. When playing door games, you may only use harsh words to people who you know very well, and keep it private. Public profanity and serious belittling is not permitted. Since it is a family-oriented board, there is a possibility of somebody being offended, so try to watch what you say.
2. Sometimes, door games may screw up. If you are playing a door, and it has some bugs in it, and you run into one, you'll most likely have to disconnect and call back. However, the occasional door doesn't reset the modem or quit back to PCBoard. Although it is not a frequent occurrence, just beware.
3. Aliases in the doors can not be vulgar. Please keep them clean.

Messages
i. General Messaging
1. When writing a message, be sure to keep the vulgarity and belittling to a minimum. You wouldn't want a message to be making fun of you, so be warned. If you happen to do this, you will be penalized and probably flamed by other users.
2. Spam mail is not appreciated, so please keep it off of the board. If it is a joke, please place it in the joke conference.
3. To reply to a message, type RE at the end of the message prompt. To quote lines from the message that you are replying to, press [CTRL]+[O] or [Esc] and then [Q]. For any other special commands, use help by pressing [H] at anytime at the message prompt, or anything else that you need help with.
ii. Conferences
1. There are currently 25 conferences on HangOut BBS. If you have a joke, use the correct joke conference. If you have ground-breaking news, use the Newsroom conference. Please check out the Services page for more information.

1. This is a menu in which special commands are listed. You can see it by typing J 11 or SPECIAL at the main menu prompt.
ii. The PCBoard ATM
1. PCB-ATM allows you to bank minutes and download bytes. Unfortunately, it is currently unoperational.
