History

The concept of HangOut BBS started out with the name Volt! BBS using the Host Plus software, which is a part of Telix 3.22. It then changed to Power! BBS on Host Plus again, after a little hard drive mess-ups. Then, on Telegard software, it was renamed back to Volt! BBS.
Soon after, I downloaded the PCBoard demo and the bulletin board was renamed to HangOut BBS. The name is because people could call in to chat, play games, and download/upload files: hanging out on your modem. Next, I sent away for the registered version of PCBoard 15.22. After registration and setting up otherwise disabled features, HangOut BBS opened to the public permanently on August 18, 1996.
