President’s Message

Welcome (back) to the 2006-2007 school year! I hope that all of you had an enjoyable and relaxing summer! This first TBU Newsletter will focus on contract issues that will have an impact on your
pay this year.

Pay Raises:
A raise of 2% on the grid and on the allowances for positions of added responsibility takes effect on September 1, 2006 and so you will have seen this reflected on your first pay cheque in September.

Pay Periods:
During the 2006-2007 school year, our first pay on September 1st (the earliest possible date to get paid this year) necessitates having 27 bi-weekly pays, instead of the usual 26 pays, with the final pay being received on Aug 31/07. Without this change, there would be a three week gap between the last pay for this school year and the first pay of the 2007-2008 school year. Anyone with a bi-weekly mortgage payment will immediately see the problem this would create. The good news is that the first pay of the 2007-2008 school year will be on Sep 7/07 (only one week after our last pay for this school year).

The pay schedule for the 2006/07 school year is:

Sept. 01 1/27
Sept. 15 1/27
Sept. 29 1/27
Oct. 13 1/27

Mar. 02 1/27
