One of the most wonderful things that can happen to any person in any job is to be recognized publicly for one's work. Just such a thing has happened for District 11 teachers Linda Maskell-Pereira and Christopher Pereira of Central Elgin Collegiate Institute. In the December 2005 issue of the Ontario College of Teachers magazine Professionally Speaking, actress Rachel McAdams credits these two teachers for piquing her interest in dramatic arts and for encouraging her to pursue education and a career in theatre.

Clearly, this was the right decision for Rachel, because she has since gone on to study theatre at York University and to pursue a career in film and television. So far, she has acted in nine films and two television series. Her most recent film The Family Stone opened in theatres in November 2005.
