The goals of the OSSTF Student Success Plan were predicated on our belief in the Full Service School Model. Students need a safe, caring, responsive and empowering environment in which to grow and learn as well as curriculum that is responsive to a diversity of needs. A Full Service School serves all of its students well in these areas and ensures that students have equal opportunity to meet their educational growth and career aspirations.

Students may have intellectual, physical, social, cultural, emotional or moral needs that cannot always be fully met in regular programs and they often need special services to be successful in their academic programs. The Full Service School Team is comprised of not only classroom teachers, but also administrators, office, technical and maintenance staff, educational assistants, teacher librarians, attendance counsellors, psychology staff, speech-language pathologists, and a wide range of other educational workers. Each plays a valuable role in helping our schools run effectively and our students become the best they can be. OSSTF believes in a Full Service School that provides real opportunities for student success.

OSSTF will promote the Full Service School Model both within OSSTF and within the broader educational community and will continue to lobby the government regarding the importance of all educational workers being necessary to a successful education for all students. Posters, flyers and brochures will be created and distributed to schools to promote OSSTF’s belief that the school is the most appropriate and natural place for the provision of integrated services for all students. It is also the most cost efficient place to provide professional services for students at risk.

Let us not take thought for our separate interests, but let us help one another.
