Strike Pay Provisions Updated
From materials distributed for the April 22-23
Provincial Council Meeting |
|
The current level of support payments from the Federation has been
in place for at least fifteen years. Bylaw 20.1.1.8 reads: "It shall be
the duty of the Provincial Executive to review, at least every two years,
the appropriate relief payments to members who may be on strike or locked
out".
The following conditions are in effect immediately and will be incorporated
into the Provincial Responsibility for Negotiations Manual.
Full Time Employees
For sanctions which result in lost wages, the initial per diem support
will be $50 from day one of the withdrawal to day ten. Effective day eleven
the per diem support will rise to $60 with additional support of $5 per day
per dependent. (Income tax guidelines will be used to determine who
qualifies as a dependent.)
Permanent Part-Time Employees
All members who work part-time shall receive the same per diem support as
full-time employees, provided they are available for full-time strike
duties.
Casual Employees
Active members who are casual employees and work on a daily call-in basis
will receive two days of strike support payments per week.
Full time casual employees, under a long term contract, will receive full
time support up to the end of the sanction. Additional Information
No employee receiving support payments will receive more than 100% of
his/her normal earnings.
The Provincial Executive may approve additional financial support in the
event of a protracted lost wages sanction. |
