Information Regarding 2005-2006 Grade 10 Literacy
Test
From materials distributed for the April 22-23
Provincial Council Meeting |
|
At the most recent meeting of the EQAO Assessment Advisory
Committee, Margueritte Jackson announced that the 2005/2006 Grade 10
Literacy Test would be held on March 29th, 2006 instead of in October. This
follows Victoria Hemming's assurances in January that there were no plans to
change the date. The decision was made after a series of conference calls
with principals and board representatives in which consistent concerns were
expressed surrounding the fall date.
In addition, the EQAO is considering removing time as an accommodation for
the OSSLT, and allowing students to use whatever time is necessary to
complete the test, regardless of whether the student has an IEP.
Finally, the EQAO will be field testing a number of writing prompts in
schools this fall for use on future OSSLT's. They plan to use a "purposeful"
sample of schools and have up to 250 students per school involved. A total
of 40 opinions prompts and 40 news prompts will be tested, and more than
20,000 students will be involved province-wide. The EQAO is currently
deciding whether they will use students in grade 9, 10 or 11 in the field
testing. |
