District 11 Member Donna Kotsopoulos has been awarded a Brick Robb Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $3000.

The scholarship is named in honour of I.M. (Brick) Robb, teacher and Head of Guidance at Northern Vocational School, Toronto, until appointed Field and Deputy General Secretary of OSSTF in 1950. He served as General Secretary from 1964 to 1968.

This scholarship is designed to assist OSSTF members in good standing with doctoral studies on a full-time basis at a university of their choice.

Donna will investigate how proficiency in mathematical language register and communication are developed through peer discourse. She hopes that her study of language proficiency and communications in mathematics will contribute both practical and theoretical insights to enhance current teaching and learning practices and improve student outcomes in terms of communicating what they know about mathematics.
