Up Getting a Job Certification OSSTF Award

OSSTF Faculty of Education Award
Starting in the 2004-2005 academic year, OSSTF will be increasing its scholarship to faculties of education from the present $350 to $1,000. The following criteria is to be used by the Faculty in the selection of the graduating candidate who has secured a job with a public secondary school board.

Primary Criteria: Leadership and Collegiality

a) leadership in student government at the faculty of education
b) support for fellow Teacher Candidates
c) leadership in organization of events which benefit fellow Teacher Candidates
d) political or social activism that promotes the professional nature of teaching
e) a permanent contribution or legacy (tangible or intangible) to an individual student, class, or school
f) exemplary interactions with students in a variety of settings

Secondary Criteria: Academic Excellence

a) high knowledge level in their subject area
b) high level of skill in their subject area
c) exemplary or innovative application of subject content that enhances the student's learning experience
d) high level of achievement in curriculum design and instruction
e) enhancement of the learning experience for an individual or group or students
