Laura is a veteran song interpreter and multi-award winner. Rob & Kath are rising stars. All are Nova Scotians. ![]() Naming the Twins is the harmonizing duo of Robbie Smith & Kathleen Glauser. All 13 tracks from their first album (produced by Paul Mills) received significant airplay on folk radio. Their 2nd album of all original folk songs ("Drifters and Dreamers") with a Canadiana/Americana theme, distinctive harmonies, and a supportive array of acoustic instruments takes the listener from the seas aboard a whaling vessel to a quarry in the hot deep-southern sun, with many stops in between. Their 3rd album is in the works for a fall release. Their energy, casual banter, wide variety of song styles & remarkably well matched voices captivate audiences wherever they perform. ![]()

Brad returns with his wonderful voice and songs. Sheila, from the duo DALA, launches her new solo recording! ![]() ![]() Brad Nelson's musical influences include folk, pop, country, rock, maritime, and Celtic. He has toured the Maritimes in the Celtic pub band "The Farriers", and performed as a solo act in clubs in the KW area for many years. Brad has been principle performer and musical director of several Stan Rogers tributes, and has shared the Folk Night stage with Paul Mills, Penny Lang, Laura Bird, & Nonie Crete. His original songs include the YouTube sensation "Timmy's Anthem". After 12 years of writing and performing in Juno-nominated Canadian folk duo Dala, Toronto's Sheila Carabine will release her debut solo album in September; her CD release tour includes this return to The Registry, where Dala – Canadian Folk Music award winners - appeared in 2010. The majority of the new CD was recorded in a 100-year old chapel in Church Point, Novs Scotia, and touches on themes of love, loss and the longing for fulfillment. This Folk Night will introduce us to a rising star.

From Montreal, this trio performed one of our hilite shows in 2007. A bit on the bluegrass/country side, they feature stellar writing and playing . ![]() Striking original material and a fresh acoustic sound have made Steel Rail a favourite of fans and critics over the last two decades. The Quebec band's 3 albums have received rave reviews. Tod Gorr, Ellen Shizgal, and Dave Clarke recently returned to making music together after spending almost a decade living in different provinces. The result: material that ranges from the wide-open Prairies to deep in the Ottawa Valley and further east to the North Shore of the St. Lawrence. Steel Rail has been acclaimed for its lush harmonies, Dave's stellar picking and a sound that gets its sensibility from folk and its soul from bluegrass and old-style country.
