The Arrogant Worms have spent over three decades making fun of a big dumb world. Their songs have been played on the radio, the internet, and in outer space (on the space shuttle Endeavour). The Worms began at Queen's University in 1991 at the campus radio station CFRC. The Arrogant Worms (Chris Patterson, Mike McCormick, and Trevor Strong) have since toured ceaselessly across Canada (and select other parts of the world), released 13 albums, and recorded with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Wendell Ferguson is the six-time Canadian Country Musician's Association guitar player of the year. According to the Ottawa Citizen, Katherine Wheatley is "a performer to keep you on the edge of your seat". They are best of musical pals. Her heartfelt lyrics and stunning voice and his honest yet irreverent humour make their show both moving and hilarious. Multiple award-winning francophone singer Mélisande makes her first visit to The Registry. On her latest (CFMA nominated) album, Rembobine (in English, Rewind), Mélisande revisits traditional songs from her first four recordings in traditional Québécois style. Accompanied by four seasoned musicians, including Alexandre de Grosbois-Garand of Genticorum, and featuring fiddle, flute, guitars, mandolin, and percussion, the result is a high-energy sound with strong vocal harmonies weaving around Mélisande's infectious lead vocals. Her rich musical background and her mesmerizing voice give a fresh take on these traditional songs. Mélisande gets the crowd stomping, dancing and singing wherever she goes.
