For most curent information about birth/marriage/death info, my database is been hosted by Rootsweb.
I have spent a few years researching this DARK family and I am finding it a difficult task finding information before 1850. I have gathered various facts about the DARK family in Ontario. With the help of others, I have information about DARK's in Devon, England and Newport, Wales that might or might not be people related to William, George and Susan.
The only proof I have that George and Susan are siblings is the reference in John's obituary that four of his nephews were pallbearers. The names given are George's sons.
An old scrap book started by Susan contains many newspaper clippings.
Susan has not been found in the 1901 Canada Census. Where did she go? Her obit (1905) states she spent the previous few years at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Richard Mitchell. But she is not recorded with them (or any other daughters) in 1901 census.
Susan has been found in the 1851 UK Census - a servant with Elliott family at 41 Commercial Street, Newport, Wales. Witnesses at wedding are living at same address. John has not been found in the 1851 UK Census.
The family is not together as a unit in 1841 UK Census. I found a George, Susan and William living fairly close together; although there is no way to prove these entries are related to each other or to the family being researched.
Special thanks to researchers that submitted the results of their research to Ancestral File; their contributions were helpful in contacting distant cousins:
Janice Mae Morin [George Dark AFN:H809-LD] Joseph Johnston [Susanna Dark AFN:3G4Q-31]
