Hopefully it was a good summer for all of you and
you had some time to relax and enjoy the good weather. I know some of you
managed to squeeze in some exotic travel, and several of you had children
being married. Now that the first week of school is over, you likely feel as
though summer is a distant memory! |

New Collective Agreement
All of you have, by now, received your new
collective agreement. Please read through it, as there are some changes
around dates and requests for leaves. These are of great benefit to you, and
you should be aware of them. There are also some changes in rates of pay,
effective immediately. Make sure you use the new rates on your time sheets. |

Marion Drysdale Award The Marion Drysdale Award topic this year is “Innovation with Purpose.” The dates for the entries to be in can be found in the back of your new pocket planner. District 11, Thames Valley has been the provincial award winner in the Adult Learner Category for the last 3 years. Let’s attempt to keep up our track record and do it again this year. I know you have students who are capable or producing interesting work on the above mentioned topic.

Leads
As per the Letter of Understanding in our new
agreement, we will be establishing a joint committee to review staffing
provisions with regards to Lead instructors. If anyone is interested in
sitting on this committee, please contact me at your earliest convenience. I
have a meeting on Sept. 18 at the board office, and would like to be able to
report that we have our portion of the committee in place.
