On the shores of Bylot Island, across Eclipse Sound from the town of Pond Inlet, we see the base of Sermilik Glacier, running up to the right, behind the foreground mountain.  It has been in retreat for several years now.  It is possible to snowmobile onto this glacier, and well back into the interior of Bylot Island, to an elevation of over 5000 ft, higher than the mountains you see in this photograph.
