Private Functions
The Wolseley Barracks Officers’ Mess is available for members and guests to use for private functions.
Because of the unique configuration of the mess it can be scaled appropriately for groups of most sizes, depending on the nature of the function.
For example, formal dining facilities are available for groups of 135 people. For this sort of function you would use the dining room.
Cocktail receptions, can use the lounge , main bar , games room and dining room as well, and easily accommodate many more people. Garden Parties and more informal functions like BBQ’s can be held using these areas as well as the patio area.
We can also accommodate work related functions like meetings. These can be held in the main dining room (link above) or in the case of smaller groups, they can be held in the library.
It is important to note several things about using the Officers’ Mess for private functions. The mess is available to members and their guests only. We are not available to outside organizations except by special authorization from the Mess Executive.
As a member sponsoring an event, it is important to remember that you are hosting a group of guests in what is essentially your “home away from home” that you share with the other members of the mess. You are responsible for your guests dress and behaviour. It would be awkward for your guests if they were unaware of the rules of the mess. Guests may be unfamiliar with the requirement to remove outerwear and all head dress in the mess and appropriately store it in the cloak room provided. A copy of the mess Dress Code is available on the administration page: Dress Codes
Costs for these functions vary depending on several factors. Duration of the function, the complexity of it, and the attendance are examples of things that affect the cost. All Functions are subject to a small cleaning fee as well. Deposits for these functions can be paid two weeks before the function, and the deposit amount will be based on the arrangements made with the Mess Manager.
