Our Special Needs Progarm was formed in February of 1993. Our club is following the Special Needs Program criteria put in place, and approved by the Gymnastics Ontario Federation. Our Special Needs Program's Mission Statement is as follows: "To offer gymnastics classes to those individuals whose special needs indicate that participation in an integrated gymnastics class would be a safe and enjoyable experience for the child"
How our Special Needs Program works is as follows: The club provides a gymnastics class for a child who's special needs either makes it impossible or unsafe for them to participate within the general framework of our recreational programs. The child participates in a regular class except that we will decide whether or not to provide a personal instructor to help him/her. Modifications are made as necessary to the technical aspects of the program to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for the child.
If you have a child who you think would benefit from our program, call the club at (519)421-0953 and ask to speak to either Mary Lee Pinkney, Club Administrator or Gord Pinkney, Head Coach. Either person will be able to answer your questions and give you the information you need to proceed further.
A Special Needs Program Applicant Data Form will need to be completely filled in before your child can start to participate in their class. This form only needs to be filled in the first time your child comes to the club. You will not have to fill this form in again if you decide to reregister your child for any following sessions. This form serves as part of our risk management and enables us to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for your child.
Mary Lee or Gord will also discuss the days and time periods that are available at the club, so that you will then be able to choose a specific day and time period for your child's class for that session. The fee is the same as the one or two hour class fees listed on our recreational term registration form.
