The Lorne Argent Memorial
Award
The Lorne Argent scholarship winner this year is Sarah Gutowsky
from H.P.S.S. She will be studying Environmental Science at
the University of Guelph. We wish her all the best in her future
studies.
The award, to be presented annually by the Woodstock Field Naturalists
Club, is designed to encourage an aspiring young naturalist
with similar interests. Three hundred dollars will be awarded
to a graduating high school student with an interest in natural
history. The applicant should demonstrate an involvement in
the study of natural history, biology, conservation and/or environmental
studies, and plan to proceed to university to study in a related
field.
This year's winners of the
book awards are:
- Dianna Clayton from W.C.I.
- Julianne Jansens from
C.A.S.S.
- Sarah Gutowsky from H.P.S.S.
Also winner of the Lorne Argent Scholarship.
- Alison Cole from St.Mary's
Applications are due by April 30th of each year. Selected
candidates will be interviewed before the end of May. One
candidate will be interviewed from each of the high schools
in Woodstock.
