Pastor's Message:

Trusted Leadership

Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and having salvation.
(Zechariah 9:9)

Beloved Friends in Christ,

On May 2nd, our nation went to the polls and we all hoped that the newly elected government would be that one for which we voted. Whether or not that was the case, deep down we all understand that regardless of which political party forms the government and regardless of who lives at to 24 Sussex Drive, life in Canada will remain, for the majority, good.

However, this is not the case for all nations. In a world of self-appointed dictators and iron-fisted despots, the people of some countries crave a leader like Harper, Ignatieff or Layton. They crave trusted leadership.

It is out of a situation like this that the Prophet Zechariah penned the words above. The people of Judah in his day longed for change. They desired a new leader—one who would lead them out of their dismal existence into a brighter future. Zechariah foretells of such a future.

Friends, that future has arrived. The leader, of whom Zechariah wrote, is here, and His name is Christ Jesus. He came not in terror, but with righteousness and in gentleness. He came not to rule with an iron fist, but to serve, suffer and lay down His life for us. His claim to fame is not higher taxes or reduced services, but is forgiveness and eternal life.

Sadly, not all of His constituents know this. Some are still unaware of who rules this world. Some believe that Satan won the day. Others think that this world is ruled by blind chance.

Therefore, Christ’s victory on the cross and His subsequent triumph over death must be declared. For soon will come that day when He, with perfect rule, will be inaugurated before all. Let us then make our goal in this Easter season the telling that our King has come!

in His service,

Pastor Richard A. Frey

“To the King of ages,
immortal, invisible, the only
God, be honour and glory
forever and ever. Amen.”
