Lyresande: last child of Prince Cyrwyn and Lady Saraid. Lyra is a shy, bookish young woman of fifteen years. When Devin abandoned his mother and sister, after his father's murder, the pair travelled to the Royal Capitol of Saileigh to seek the protection of Cyrwyn's father, Prince Balfyr. Though accepted by the Royal family, Lyra and her mother were not accepted by the courtiers and other nobles. Due a childhood injury, around the time of her father's death, Lyra walks with a slight limp about which she is very self-concious. Confronted with the scorn and disrespect of many around them their new life was very difficult and isolating and Lyra withdrew into a world of books and subsequently gained the nickname, "Lyresande the Librarian".

Her gentle, trusting nature has made her a special favourite of her grandparents. Balfyr and Emera have treasured Lyresande to the point that Emera has flatly refused to discuss any betrothal plans for the girl, despite the political manoeuvers and manipulations of the dukes and their families.
