Liath: Known as the Queen of the Wolves. She is a very powerful and ancient Wood Faerie. Her realm is wherever the forests reach. In the forests, there are natural wolves and the Faerie Wolves. Faerie Wolves are shapechangers who guard the balance of nature and the hidden paths to Feyland.

Currently, their packs are in disarray with the capture of Liath by Graidon's servant Rowahn Whitebirch. The price for Liath's continuing "health" is paid by her own people who offer themselves up to Graidon's twisted sorceries. Unknown to all but a few, the Shadowwolves are the results of his spells.

Originally even Liath had assumed the Shadowwolves to be a rival, invading pack and had enlisted the co-operation of Devin and Kedric in her mission to drive the evil creatures from her pack's territory. After her capture she was brought to Graidon's court where she was displayed like a trophy. It enables Graidon to torture her with the sight of yet another of her children being possessed by his power.
