Need Your Help!

Are you "outdoorsy"? Do you get along well with younger people? Want to help create a promising future for younger people, maybe even your own children?

Become a leader in Scouting! Scouting covers many ages, from Beavers (5-7) to Rovers (18-26). If you like older young adults, become a Venturer (15-18) or Rover advisor. If you enjoy working with young people, try becoming a Cub or Beaver leader.

All program levels including Scouts (11-14) are Co-ed, if the unit provides for it. And training is available for leaders in all sections. If you to take pleasure in watching people grow to become fine adults, try Scouting, they need you!

Other ways you could help is by supporting our fundraisers. Your help is greatly appreciated. Fundraisers include:

  • ScoutTrees
Held in London District in mid-April, ScoutTrees is a nation wide program designed to raise money as well as provide our country with something we will always need more of - Trees. Every spring, Scouts canvas the neighbourhoods, accepting donations, and then on planting day, plant an average of 30 trees per youth. Some of the money is sent to Scouts Canada's Brotherhood Fund. Working with the City of London, sections plant in several parks across the city, as well as some area conservation areas.
  • Popcorn
Individual groups use this fundraiser to support program opportunities in their own neighbourhoods. The Group Committee, adult volunteers who run the business side of the Group, is responsible for fundraising; to provide equipment, craft supplies, adult Leader uniforms, and other support. Popcorn sales are just one way the groups can generate these funds. London Council supports their efforts by coordinating the purchase, helping to increase the availability and success of the fundraiser.
  • Apple Day
Apple day is another nationwide fundraising event designed to help councils support the facilities used in programs. Apple Day falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in. Visit London's "Apple Day" site for more info.
  • Other Events
To provide for a section's needs, fundraising events are run by individual groups. Depending on the group, the fundraisers can vary. They could be anything from chocolate bar sales to Bar-B-Q's, pizza, etc; For more information on how you could help a group, contact the local Group Committees or scouting section.
