Change Can Mixers

These are batch type mixers with a removable mix can or tank. Mix cans can be designed for vacuum or pressure, can be jacketed and can be designed for use with a discharge press to empty the contents to a downstream process or for product packaging. One or any number of tanks can be used to optimise production and return on investment.

The mixer drive is usually mounted on a lift system to allow the removal of the mix can.

These mixers are available in a variety of configurations, providing for mixing solutions for a wide range of products. There are designs suitable for making anything from pharmaceuticals, personal care products, dental filling compounds, inks used by Walt Disney artists to explosives used in military projectiles.

The main configurations include but are not limited to:

Stationary shaft types with one, two or three shafts. The central shaft is often an anchor type with either 2 or three blades which can have scraper blades which enhance heat transfer if the mix can is jacketed; some are anchors have hellical blades to provide vertical motion of the product. The additional shafts are off centrer and usually carry either high speed dispersers or high shear rotor/stators. There are also units with two or three concentric shafts and they are usually a combination of an anchor or pitched blade agitator with a counter-rotating pitched blade and/or a high shear rotor stator or high speed disperser.

Planetary shaft types which orbit around the mix can at the same time they rotate on their own axis. The agitator is usually either a paddle or a high speed disperser.
