The Ontario area of Lutheran Marriage Encounter is part of District I, which comprises The Eastern parts of USA and Canada, from Michigan and Ontario to Florida.

There are five such Districts in North America, and together they are known as the North American Region, or NAR for short. As well, International Lutheran Marriage Encounter (ILME) has affiliates in Brazil, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and inroads into Russia in Europe. There is also a strong Lutheran Marriage Encounter present in Australia.

International Lutheran Marriage Encounter is affiliated with World Wide Marriage Encounter, the umbrella organization founded by the Roman Catholic Church. Please note that there are other forms of marriage groups with similar names, but Marriage Encounter is a registered name, and refers to a full weekend, from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, which has a set pattern, and is designed to help couples make a good marriage even better, and restore the joy of the early days of the marriage relationship.
