David Stelpstra,
Orchestra London Board of Directors

In order to assist Orchestra London through the serious cash flow problem it is experiencing, the committee of the OLPA (players' association) wishes to present the following tentative short-term solution:

The part-time pay, on Feb. 23 (for nine services), be split into two cheques as follows:

One cheque, for five services, to be taken & cashed as usual by each part-time musician; The second cheque, for four services, to be issued to said musicians, but passed un-cashed to a third party & held until an agreed-upon date in June, 2000, at which time it may be retrieved & cashed by the musicians.

Core pay, on Mar. 8 (for 16 services) be treated as follows:

Cheque to be issued to each core musician, then passed un-cashed to a third party & held until an agreed-upon date in Jun, 2000, at which time it may be retrieved & cashed by the musicians.

This is put forward for your consideration. Should you wish to proceed with this solution, we will approach the members of the orchestra to not only approve these measures but to ascertain that enough members will participate to make the solution viable. Although we are sure all members recognize the seriousness of the situation & all members will be urged to participate, it must be stressed that participation will have to be voluntary: we cannot force players to do so.

Yours sincerely,

C. Peter Audet
OLCPA Chairman
