Interiors cash still needed

By SANDRA COULSON, Free Press Lifestyles Reporter

Orchestra London has battled its way out of a $330,000 financial crisis. But the annual fund-raising must still go on.

Interiors, its popular showcase of interior decorating by London designers, starts Saturday.

This is 20th year for Interiors which has brought in almost $2 million during those years.

Orchestra board chairperson John St. Croix says the orchestra is counting on fund-raising beyond that from a telemarketing campaign begun in March when bankruptcy loomed.

The event attracts many people who might otherwise not have contact with the orchestra.

This year, the site is Ronald McDonald House where families of seriously ill children can stay while their children are treated in hospital.

"The designers just put so much of their hearts into the work and they've been very sensitive to the nature of the facility," said Interiors co-chairperson Betsy Hamilton.

Fashion shows, musical performances, art displays and home demonstrations are part of the activities. Ronald McDonald will come for a kids' day on June 10.
