TILLSONBURG IS . . . A PLACE TO BUILD YOUR FUTURE

Centrally located in southwestern Ontario, Tillsonburg was first settled by George Tillson in 1825 and became the centre of a flourishing lumber industry. Today, Tillsonburg has a population of some 14,000.

At 41 Bridge St. West is the Station Arts Centre. Today the home of the Tillsonburg Craft Guild, the Great Western Railway Station played a significant role in Tillsonburg's history since its construction in 1879. The building's architecture is in the Gothic style, evident by its windows and supporting arches.

Take time to walk the historic streets of the community, with its many century homes, distinctive and well maintained. Visit our museum adjacent to the carefully restored Annandale House, the former home of the founding Tillson family.

Stepping back into the 20th Century, you can shop in Tillsonburg's modern downtown stores, or stroll through the Tillsonburg Town Centre Mall, with ample nearby free parking. Or visit the Norfolk Mall on your way south to the water playgrounds of Bayham and Norfolk Townships, on the Lake Erie shores.

Family life is enhanced by the multi-million dollar Community Centre which features two ice pads, a waterpark, 600 seat auditorium, tennis and squash courts, indoor pool and ball diamonds. You can also enjoy the farmer’s market, station arts centre, Theater Tillsonburg or one of the many special events.

Tillsonburg also serves as the gateway city to the rich agricultural lands of Southwestern Oxford Township to the north. In the south, you are on your way to the sandy beaches of Long Point and Port Burwell, with its many picturesque conservation areas throughout the area surrounding Tillsonburg.

Tillsonburg is surrounded by rolling farms and countryside and offers a wide selection of living accommodation to meet all needs. Hickory Hills, a retirement community, complete with its own recreation centre is located in Tillsonburg.
