The Woodstock Gas Light Company was located north of the Grand Trunk Railway (later CNR) tracks and south-east of the junction of Main with Bay. Starting operations in 1874, it had a 25 year franchise for the manufacture and delivery of (coal) gas for street lighting and private use.
