OPTIMIST CLUB OF OAKRIDGE ACRES INC.

Friend of Youth

London, Ontario, Canada

HISTORY

The Optimist Club of Oakridge Acres Inc. was chartered in 1957 within the Oakridge Subdivision which was situated in the Township of London, Ontario. This portion of the Township was annexed by the City of London in 1960. The Club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2007. The club has supported our youth in many areas (both local, provincial, national and international) over the years and is still a very active organization.

SPORTS PROGRAMS

The club has organized numerous sports programs, initially with hockey when Oakridge Arena was built (first covered arena in the City of London) in 1966. The Club still supports the hockey program today and has increased the number of programs which have added more opportunities for our youth. Our teams and players have fared well over the years and have represented the Oakridge Optimists in city, provincial, national and international events.

OTHER OPTIMIST PROGRAMS

The Optimist Club of Oakridge Acres also sponsors a number of other youth activities within our community to provide opportunities for our young people to develop into the leaders of tomorrow. These activities are outlined below:
