OPTIMIST CLUB OF OAKRIDGE ACRES

London, Ontario

HOCKEY

HOUSE LEAGUE

All registered boys and girls play regardless of ability. The primary goals are participation and to play for fun. The schedule usually consists of one game and one practice per week. The teams are balanced by ability, while taking into account player postal codes to form teams in general areas. Leagues at most levels play teams solely within the Oakridge program, keeping travel to a minimum.

COMPETITIVE/SELECT

Teams are selected, chosen on ability, from players trying out. Teams participate in leagues, including teams of comparable ability from other areas of the city and surrounding municipalities. There are approximately two games and one practice per week. Teams usually play in three or four weekend tournaments over the season to supplement their schedule. This type of hockey generally requires more comittment from both the players and parents.

CLINICS

Clinics are held for both players and coaches. The clinics are held throughout the fall and winter of each year. This is a great opportunity to improve player skills and for the players to learn the correct techniques for skating, passing, shooting and defensive skills. Details of clinic dates and times will be announced in the registration newsletter.
