I began my hockey career with the hometown Junior B London Diamonds
before jumping to the collegiate ranks with the Michigan State
University Spartans where I was named named to the NCAA West First
All-American Team in 1985.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had the first overall pick and were highly
interested in me. However I had told the Leafs that I would never
play for them. The Leafs decided to take a tough defenseman (who
would be moved to left wing later) Wendel Clark.

As a as an 18-year-old in the NHL, I collected 28 points in my rookie season.

I appeared in the 1985 NHL All-Star Game and recorded seven 20-goal
seasons over my 10-year NHL career.

My career totals are 247 goals, 250 assists and 497 points in 634
regular season games. I also added 68 points in 67 playoff contests.

I also have two Stanley Cups and a 50-goal campaign to my credit. |
