Custom Roll Forming Tips - Continued

  • When planning a leg, the length of the leg should not be less than three times the thickness of the material. Legs shorter than that are difficult to form because it's hard to get enough leverage to bend the leg up. This also applies with hemming or bending a material back on itself.
  • If a piercing pattern is used that requires the holes in a specific area relative to the end of the part, try to keep the holes more than ½", but within 4" away from the end of the part.
  • Use the maximum bend radii permissible.
