#999 Home Study Watchmaking Course:
Originally we printed this for a few customers and made a few extras; the demand was so high we just had some more done. Produced by the Chicago School of Watchmaking in 1952, long since out of business. Thirty five lessons, about 1000 pages (that's right 1000!), extremely well written and profusely illustrated. First generation copy, not done at the local library's xerox machine but rather laser copied by a printer, each lesson bound. Two of the chapters (NOT incomplete) are slightly out of sequence, exactly the same as the original. We don't normally hype the stuff we sell, especially as in this case where there is almost no profit, but if you ask around you will find how highly people speak of this course. Whether you are a hobbyist wanting to do your own service work or have an eye towards a future part or full time occupation, if you follow the course and do the practise work, you cannot lose! $169 includes surface postage within North America.

#991 Marshall 8mm Lathe Collets: Note that these are Marshall collets, even though they are not stamped with the makers name. They should fit all standard 8mm lathes (Rivett, Derbyshire 'fat', Mosely 'long' excluded), however they are slightly longer. The typical collet is about 34 or 35mm o/a, these are about 40mm o/a in length. We tested these on various lathes with no problems, but if you are not sure we recommend that you check your headstock drawbar first....you can put a spacer that is about 4mm long on any collet (or simply hold the collet out with your fingers) to make sure that your drawbar will 'grab' the collet. It is your responsibility to insure that they fit your particular lathe. Be sure to specify "991 Marshall" when ordering this item.
