2008 - 2009

PIPING & DRUMMING

SCHOOL

The Piping & Drumming School will resume for 2008 - 2009 on Monday September 29. Classes will continue for existing students, and an Information Session will be held for any new students or individuals considering or planning to join the program.

PROGRAM DETAILS

The School offers free instruction for beginning and novice pipers and drummers. Our Musical Directors are accomplished Grade 1 and Professional players, with considerable experience in performance, competition, composing, and judging.

Students are not required to have any previous musical experience. The program is based on a curriculum that starts with the basics, and builds upon them as the student progresses.

Classes are held on Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 7:15 pm. Students are welcome to stay later to observe and eventually participate in the pipe band practices, which are also held on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. Beginning September 2008, band practices and the Piping & Drumming School will be hosted at Saunders Secondary School, which is located at 941 Viscount Road, opposite Westmount Shopping Centre. Alternate arrangements will be made for dates on which the school is unavailable.

There is no cost to attend the classes, however students will be responsible for their own practice instruments (practice chanter for pipers or drumsticks and practice pad for drummers), and the cost of the course textbooks. These will remain the property of the student once purchased.

QUESTIONS?

All of your questions will be answered at the Information Session on September 29. However please feel free to contact the band by e-mail at lffpb@execulink.com or by phone at 519.668.7043 if you cannot attend, or would like some answers sooner.
