Farm's Pride Sandra-Dee
   DOB May 14, 2006 / OVC Grade 1 - MDR1 Normal/Normal - Herding Instinct Test (Sheep)

Sandie gets along with just about everyone, and can be very social. Confident, driven, playful, and bossy, Sandie shows good pack status behaviors and follows verbal instructions well. She picks up and learned daily routines quickly at a young age. An avid hunter Sandie will actively seek out prey (mice) while on walks, and work independently doing so. A nurturing dog, Sandie accepts newer additions to the house/farm readily, and cares for them, proving this by becoming the excellent babysitter and big sister for Gyp’s 2007 litter. Sandie also shares guarding duties, and shows promise with stock earning her Herding Instinct Test Certification the summer of 2009. Sandie has a zest for life and takes everything in her world as an opportunity to make a game out of her experiences. A solid built medium-large boned dog Sandie stands approximately 20” and is clear sable in colour and has that easy care Teflon coat that traditionally is found on the English Shepherd breed.

Sandie, a daughter of our Gyp is our future brood bitch. She is sure of herself, not a difficult or stubborn dog, and is very intelligent and shows the ability to problem solve quickly. Sandie is very people orientated, and likes to be around the family sticking close to all of us. She is affectionate with all family members (including those not residing with us) is able to determine the difference between strangers and family members who visit (and stay) with long periods of time between visits. She can often be found cuddling up next to someone on the couch.
When she was very young her prey drive was quite strong and this combined with her age caused some problems with self control. However with appropriate guidance, and more maturity, she is able to gain more control and proving herself as a valuable helper in the hen house. A great vermin deterrent, Sandie is becoming the first dog of the ‘pack’ to locate turkey vultures in the sky. Sandie is playful with the cats, and has wonderful gentle plays with all the feline members of her ‘flock’.
Sandie responds well to voice commands, having an excellent ‘turn on a dime’ recall and will mind a verbal correction and is very forgiving. She is *very* food motivated, making training is a snap with her. When at the age of six months Sandie has amazed us with what knowledge she already knew about the family, the routine of the household and what we expect dogs to do and behave in our home.
Sandie is quick, agile, and powerful mover. She explodes with enthusiasm and seems to float while running across an open field, or when darting around saplings in the bush. She is a very animated jumper, able to ‘pronk’ across a flooded creek in a single bound with barely a tail hair wet. She does not let unsteadiness of footing un-nerve her as she can trot across a narrow log, stand on a decaying stump or walk across breaking ice. Sandie enjoys the water as she repeatedly retrieves stick after stick from a pond becoming an avid swimmer. Sandie is a very impressive young dog and is becoming just like her dam and more every day.
