Smitty lives in Nepean, Ontario, (close to Ottawa) with his six year old girl, and her family. There he lives the active life, camping, canoeing, and swimming during the summer months and snowshoeing during the winter. Smitty is a very sociable dog, is very devoted to being close to his family and is a pleasure to take on long trips or short walks in the neighborhood. In 2007 he welcomed an addition to his flock, his younger half brother Ripton. Both dogs get on well, and are becoming good buddies. Smitty is a clear sable dog and weighs 45 pounds and is approximately 21 inches at the shoulders. |

Smitty is so great, and like Sandie (his litter sister) , there are some nights (or days!) when he would just go and never stop. We like it though, it keeps us active. He loves to be outdoors as often as possible and has proved to be in love with water during the summer months although the first time in a real lake was quite an experience. When the weather has been so cold (-25) it doesn't stop him! It is like it's springtime for him... |

We have trained him very well off leash so he will run on his own and then come back to us when called. He has "friends" he plays with all the time...We have huge soccer fields/parks/nature area's all around us so it’s easy to keep him occupied. |

He loved camping with us the past fall. If he could, he would be outside all day as he loves the outdoors and so do we. He is so smart. Has been pretty easy to train, has some off days but we can't complain. Greg has done most of the training with him (but not all!) and usually learns to follow the commands within a few tries. He chases any animal that moves including seagulls in the sky! He is extremely fast at this early age but is still is a little clumsy in the corners! |

Smitty is very well socialized and has not shown any signs of being an alpha or of being aggressive with humans or other dogs. He loves all dogs and especially children and will play with other puppies for hours if we let him. |

At home, his is extremely cuddly and loves to be around us as often as possible. He buries his head in our laps or under our arms and will stay there for quite some time. . All in all, he has been great and very social able and never really took to his crate. We tried but he just doesn't seem to want to be in their very often. Just at night time. He would rather be sprawled out across your lap! |

We are now "educators" of the breed because wherever we go, no one seems to know what an English Shepherd is until we tell them, "He will look like an Aussie with a tail!" Most people seem to think he is a Collie. We like to explain about the breed, temperaments, work ethic, etc. and where he came from. Family members and friends (along with ourselves) are impressed with was an excellent dog we have acquired. He is so well behaved for a puppy and he has been everything we hoped for and more! Thanks so much for choosing this great dog for us who has turned out to be an excellent addition to our family. |
