Our Past Dogs

In loving memory of those who are no longer with us.

   Bootle 2004 - 2008
Bootle was the runt of our 2004 litter, and he was a little fellow with quite a personality. He was a keen squirrel hunter and rodent killer and he would often hunt the skies for birds of prey during the summer months and would keep raccoons at bay during the night. He loved & lived life to go for daily walks and really enjoyed the times when the family arrived home from school & work. Bootle had a very dominant personality and rules and routine were a big focus in his life. He exhibited strong territorial tendencies on property and he was strong in hunting and guardian traits, and exhibit strong eye. Bootle was a beautiful dog inside as much as he was on the outside, and he is missed very much by the family.

   Chloe 1990 - 2006
Chloe (aka The Bean) was Jonathan’s Border collie and agility companion for 16 years. She was purchased from the farm house just a few concessions down from us, and she had the look of the ol’ fashion border collies that seem to be disappearing from the land now days. Chloe was a border collie who seemed to take most of what she did seriously, while she enjoyed agility she wasn’t a wild crazy dog, throwing herself over equipment, but played the game with a pinch of seriousness and accuracy. Chloe’s work mostly involved agility at a younger age. She was one of the first dogs in Canada in 1995 to hold a Master agility Dog of Canada title and in 1997 became the first Border Collie to earn a Master Jumper Dog of Canada Title. In 1999 she qualified for the USDAA Nationals and at the age of 9 competed there making it into the second round, coming close to making the finals. Chloe was a very steady sound dog, in workability and was extremely biddable, and still is the logo for the Jumping Bean Agility Trial Database Jonathan develops.
Chloe has been on stock (sheep) and earned herself a Herding Instinct Test, certification, and seem to enjoy herding anything from ducks, to sheep and chickens and the odd cat. Her effortless movement made her a smooth worker. Chloe is best known for her excellent pack understanding and teaching our puppies about adult dog behaviour and was a terrific ‘grandma’ to our 2004 litter.
She seemed to enjoy every moment with her people, her canine pack members, but Chloe’s steadily depleting health and old age didn’t make it able for her to enjoy future litters, and in June of 2006 two weeks past her 16th birthday she was laid to rest in our ‘Bean Field’ next to her partner Magie, keeping watch over us all.

   Fling 1989 - 2001
"Wild Thing" was a different kind of Border Collie, while she was special to us, she seemed a bit of a nit wit to everyone else. Thriving on action, and any opportunity to retrieve a ball or chase someone retrieving a ball, Fling did everything 110% and then some. Fling accompanied us to many agility trials in which we would excel at receiving no scores. To date I’m sure she is the most E’d dog in AAC history.
She never had a mean bone on her body and her life has touched many hearts and her legacy passes with her offspring. Fling was truly a special little dog, our little pee eyed, loose lipped, three legged, Prairie born, “Fling Thing”. Fling left us suddenly the spring of 2001 passing away one leg shy of an ATChC, but a Champion of our hearts.

   Magie 1992 - 2005
Magie was our little 'alpha retard', and before we had ES, was the top hunting dog of our three dog pack. There was nothing Magie loved more than to hunt in the woods. The amount of ground that dog could cover was incredible. Often the last to leave the woods she would trot home with a satisfied smile on her face, panting away, and would have an after-walk path roll of satisfaction before stepping through the home gate. She had a great sense of balance able to leap anything in her path, and traverse any incline no matter how steep the grade would be- sometimes in extreme circumstances.
Magie was an AussieX but had similar traits of the English Shepherd in terms of behaviours and mannerisms we often thought we were introduced the breed long before we actually knew it! Magie love the outdoors and spent as much time as she could hunting for mice, and other vermin. She also would enjoy the company of family, and was often found in some remote corner of the room to lie in, unless someone was sick and then she was found up on the couch/bed playing sympathy nurse. Our walks are not the same without our little Magie, and her passing had left a large hole in our family. Magie passed away of old age on Thanksgiving Day, October of 2005.
