Lily is our youngest dog, a ‘pup’ we kept from our 2011 litter. Lily was a mature puppy to live with, as she is really in tune with her environment and is observant with routine and rules of the house, making most training a snap with her. This along with other household rules, we have found that Lily was always able to recognize and learn quickly what is wrong and right in our home. She is much geared towards routine, and gets quite displaced if the routine is out of order. As a young dog Lily had confident issues, but overcame them well with guidance, and this is probably due to the lack of socialization as a young pup, combined with not completely understanding the rules while learning them. Lily is a well adjusted mature dog that accepts her place in the pack of our home. Lily is a social dog, but not an ‘in your face’ kind of gal, but more like what an ES can be like. She is often found cuddling next to someone on the couch or on the bed during down time.
Lily has excellent impulse control, as she assesses what is happening and often does not react unless told. She is a softer and submissive dog, and she accepts leadership from anyone in the house. She is very responsive with voice commands, and a biddable dog, and considering she has no formal training, she is a well mannered dog to live with, and really understands what we ask of her. She is reliable to walk off leash in the woods and often ‘checks’ in with us when we walk, as she runs about in the woods to hunt while we walk. Lily often walks with other strange dogs off leash at a doggie day care (http://www.onehappytail.com/) most mornings, part of the regular morning routine with her dam and grand dam. There she accepts strange dogs as her ‘outside’ pack members.
Lily is a very athletic and agile dog. She is able to leap up with ease as she trees squirrels in the woods. (see photos below) She has high prey drive, and guardian traits. Lily will work willingly for food or toys for motivation, and exhibits good work ethics. We believe she would make a good obedience companion. She shows that she has an excellent nose as a scent dog. Lily enjoys a good game of keep – away, where she is chased by anyone in the family (canine or human). She has a happy and playful way about her, and gets along with almost everyone.
Lily seems like she has the ability to smile. She does this usually when she is happy the family is coming home (a greeting) or just wants our attention or she is in trouble. She seems to pull her lips back, giving the impression of cheek bones rising on either side of her face and looking like she is smiling. We call her "Smiley Joe'Lily is a larger shaded sable female from Sandie’s litter, a middle of the road puppy, and a good fit for our family. She is MDR1 Normal/Normal (by pedigree).
