The History Behind The Hard Drive Mod Co.
Due to a lack of sales, & with no local interest in London, Ontario, Canada (the test market city) its felt that this company concept was years before it's time.
These webpages are kept for historical/archival purposes, and to be able to say:
"We were here first!"
Thank you to those who showed an genuine interest.

Hard Drive Modification policies

What qualifies a hard drive as new?

Any hard drive in it’s original package with at least the anti-static bag (which encloses the HDD itself) left unopened, and still has a valid manufacturer’s warranty, and made within the last 2 years (to the day if available), may be considered new.

Since the hard drive couldn’t be used within the still sealed anti-static bag, it will have the manufacturers warranty validated by the hard drive modification company (as per warranty accompanying any new hard drive).

What exactly is an old or used (customer’s) hard drive?

Any hard drive not fully sealed in it’s original anti-static bag are considered a customer’s hard drive (previously used). These will all be tested before and after any modifications to ensure the stability, and lack of existing damage to the used hard drive (RE: warranty scams). Any hard drive suspicious of not meeting the testing standards that ensure a lack of possible future malfunctions, may be refused modification and returned promptly.

A service fee (for initial testing) will be in addition to the possible cost of modification and this service fee is not negotiable and must be paid before testing (let alone modifications) will begin.

These used hard drives do not have the manufacturer’s warranty validated by the hard drive modification company.

A 60 day basic defect-free warranty (validated by the hard drive modification company) which is based partially on the manufacturer’s warranty, starts on the day the of modification completion.

Customer data or existing Operating Systems.

Data that pre-exists on an used hard drive will be wiped-out fully by automated media testing software. Therefore the protection or copying of any pre-existing data or info is the customer’s responsibility.

All hard drives, have some common policies!

I reserve the right to not validate any warranty on any hard drive that is 3 years old or more.

Replacement of any additional non-standard modifications (ie, LED’s) that may have exceeded their TTL (Time To Life) are not covered under warranty after 60 days.

This is the initial release of the Hard Drive Modification policies and may change in time.
