1.  What does it cost?

Each mural is unique, in size and complexity and so the price will range as the time it takes to complete the mural will differ from mural to mural.  The cost will be roughly $320 (CAD) per day.  A Simple mural on one wall may take one or two days, while a more detailed mural may take closer to a week.  A whole room in detail may take ten to twenty days.  Once we have established a design and a plan, I will make an estimate. the mural may cost less but will not cost you more, provided we stick to our established design.

2.  How long does it take?

A simple one wall mural may take one or two days, while a more detailed one wall mural may take closer to a week and an entire room in a detailed design may take ten to twenty days or even more. Once our design is established.  I will give you an estimate.  The mural may cost less but not more than what I have projected.

3.  What is your availability?

I have some availability for smaller, one wall murals for the month of June.  Larger jobs I'm scheduling into July and August.

4.  What area do you work in?

I'm located in Simcoe Ontario, which puts me in good proximity to London, Cambridge, Brantford, Hamilton, Tillsonburg, Woodstock.  Accommodations can be made in some areas outside that radius on an individual basis with some consideration to cost of travel and expenses.

5.  What preparation is needed?

Ideally the walls should be new plaster, dried thoroughly, which has been sealed with plaster sealer, then given one coat of thinned white matt emulsion to prime the surface, (paint : water ratio about 80 : 20), and then one coat of normal white emulsion.  Drywall sealed with an even coat of primer is also a good base.

Wall Paper and Vinyl wallpapers are unsuitable and should be removed and the walls freshened with emulsion.  Old plaster is sometimes preferred to paint on but should be made good and primed with one coat of white matte emulsion.  A wall painted with a colour may also be a suitable base for me to work on.  Preparation of walls can be done for an additional charge, and this will be charged at an agreed daily rate.

6.  How do we know what it will look like?

We will meet and share ideas and I will return with pictures, sketches and colour schemes for you to consider.  Hand painted murals are original works even if we are going with a design based on a familiar character each mural will be unique and reflect what we agree on as a design.  Once we have established the design and you have approved it I will give an estimate of the time needed to complete the work.

7.  Do you charge a consultation fee?

I don't charge for consultations.

8.  Are the paints toxic?

My murals are painted with a blend of matt emulsion and acrylics.   These are non-toxic paints.  Acrylics are very durable, they resist fading from light and are very washable (just use warm soapy water and a soft sponge).  If necessary a coat of acrylic based matt varnish can be applied for increased durability and easier cleaning, if you would find it necessary to score the surface.  The acrylic based matt varnish is also non-toxic.
