Butter Tarts

Sifted flour
¾ tsp. salt
10 tbsp. shortening
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tbsp. milk
½ tsp. vanilla
¼ cup melted butter
½ cup chopped nuts

Combine 1-½ cups flour and salt in bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add 3 tbsp. water, mixing well. Divide dough into 24 portions. Roll out and line tart or muffin cups.

Combine 1-½ tsp. flour with sugars in bowl. Beat egg, milk and vanilla together in small bowl. Add to sugar mixture, mixing well. Stir in butter and nuts. Fill pastry shells. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until set.
