Eighth Annual Excellent Orchid Adventure
You are invited to join Jeanette and Greg Vincent as they explore the Tip o' the Bruce, Tobermory, in search of orchids and other flowers. Our search will extend to Flower Pot Island (island map) with a cost of approximately $35.00 for the glass bottom boat and Parks Canada fee. The wild flowers in the Tobermory area in the spring are wonderful and our walks will focus on these flowers and the area's great views. These walks will be slower paced and shorter than regular hikes. We will have our meals and stay in a very comfortable Princess Hotel in Tobermory that overlooks Little Tub Harbour. The number of participants is limited to 25 and has been full the past few years. Beginners welcome. No dogs. The cost in 2009 was $360.00 double, $420.00 single, triple and quad $330.00 - cost for 2010 to be confirmed. Reservations required. Sunday, September 12, 2010 – Bruce Trail, Blue Mountains, Devil's Glen/Pretty River. Level 2/3. 3 km/h. Hilly, rocky terrain, 17.1 km
BT Maps 22/23, ed. 25. Meet before 9:00 am for a 9:00 am departure near km 47.8, map 23 where the Pretty River Access Trail leaves Grey Rd 31 [approx. 44.423951,-80.288098].Today we walk northward from Devil's Glen, through the Nottawasaga Nature Reserve and finish at the south end of the Pretty River Park. Hiking boots are a must and trekking poles are recommended. No dogs and no dropouts. Directions from Shelburne – From Hwy 89, east of Shelburne, follow Reg. Rd. 24/125 north for about 31 km & turn left (west) on the 12th Line to the intersection at Rob Roy & turn right on Grey Road 31 remaining on it for about 5.5 km to the Pretty River Access Trail. September 17 to 19, 2010 – Last of Summer Walking Weekend
An early fall weekend of walking the trails at the Tip o' the Bruce, Tobermory. We stay and have our meals at the Princess Hotel (1.877.901.8282). Plan to arrive Friday in time for dinner at 7:00 pm. We have an early breakfast both Saturday and Sunday and will explore the excellent trails in the Tobermory area. The last of the summer flowers should still be out. Our walks will be about 10 km each day at a comfortable pace allowing for time for some great picture taking. Princess Hotel rates for September/October: Single: $365 p.p., Double: $285 p.p., Triple: $245 p.p. and for a front room, it would be $20 extra p.p.

BT Maps 10/11, ed. 25. Meet before 9:00 am for a 9:00 am departure in the parking lot at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area parking off Appleby Line [43.472003,-79.911787], map 11. We walk north through Crawford Lake C.A., down into, along & back up the Nassawgaweya Canyon onto part of the Milton Outlier before walking the Rattlesnake Point Access Trail to the parking lot. Hiking boots are a must and trekking poles are recommended. No dogs and no dropouts. Directions from Hwy 401 East: Take Exit 312 at Campbellville, left at Reid Sideroad (signs for Reid Sideroad/Guelph Line/Campbellville), left at Main St North/Guelph Line, turn right (before the Mohawk Racetrack) at 5 Sideroad/Reg. Rd 9 (also known as Campbellville Rd.) & follow it for about 3.5 km, right at Appleby Line for about 5.5 km to the entrance of Rattlesnake Point C.A. Google Maps directions.

Friday-Sunday, October 15-17, 2010 – Fall Hiking Weekend at the "Tip o' the Bruce", Tobermory
Our daily hikes are shorter, about 12 km each day, which gives us time to explore this unique area. The fall colours should still be with us. Our loop hikes will focus on views into Georgian Bay, bring your camera! We stay and have our meals at the Princess Hotel (1.877.901.8282) overlooking Little Tub Harbour in Tobermory. Today we walk south through part of Hilton Falls C.A., before mounting the Milton Outlier passing through the Kelso C.A. on to Rattlesnake Point Access Trail along the edge of Nassawgaweya Canyon to the parking lot. Hiking boots are a must and trekking poles are recommended. No dogs and no dropouts. Friday-Monday, February 18-21, 2011 – Tobermory Snowshoeing Long Weekend
Enjoy the long weekend snowshoeing in the Tobermory area. We will have our meals and stay in the very comfortable Princess Hotel that overlooks Little Tub Harbour.
