This site is an introduction to our collection of approximately 700 Hosta varieties available in the gardens for your viewing. The price list includes approximately 325 varieties of potted hosta plants available for the Spring of 2005. The goal of the Hosta Habit is to have all plants in the garden area clearly tagged to make the selection process easy; with all available plants potted, named, priced and on display in the Shade House. A small selection of Ferns, Brunnera and Bugbane are also available as the garden's permit.
The gardens are an ongoing collection of Rare and Unusual Evergreens, Carolinian Shrubs, Japanese Maples and Native Plant Material. The beds are organically mulched and all beds are under planted with our collection of Hostas. The Hosta species has something to offer every avid gardener, with it’s diverse variations in size, color, texture and bloom. The hosta species are long-lived perennials that are easily propagated, which makes the Hosta an all time garden favorite. All of our visitors enjoy the fish ponds and our large Japanese Koi. We must however request that children are at all times accompanied by an adult as the ponds are deep. Leashed pets are also welcome, pet owner's are responsible for natures little clean ups!!! Bus Trips and Garden Society Tours are welcome at no charge, however we do request advance notice for all tours to prevent cross bookings. Please enjoy your visit!
