Super Chipmunk

The Super Chipmunk is a former British R.A. F. MK 10 aircraft which was used as a trainer for the Royal Air force. We purchased this aircraft from the previous owner in England. Gilbert Custom Aircraft has completely reskinned the entire aircraft and installed a new set of metal wings to replace the original fabric covered wings. The rudder has been modified to make it larger and it has been squared off. We have installed a brand new bubble style canopy on this aircraft along with modern instruments, wheel pants, three bladed prop and polished aluminum spinner.

The brake system has been upgraded to modern Cleveland double puck brakes with toe brakes and rudder pedals rather than the original rudder bar.

Powered by a 10-540 295 horse power Lycoming aircraft engine, the aircraft will have a cruising speed of 179 MPH with a climbing rate of 3500 feet per minute. The aircraft is fitted with tuned exhaust and an inverted oil and fuel system allowing it to be fully aerobatic. The empty weight is 1200 lbs.
Gilbert Custom Aircraft plans to have this aircraft fully operational by 2004. It is presently being prepared for painting.
