Product overview!
These are simple, yet very effective 'tools' to use for drift
fishing, flatline trolling, and some of the various models are
made and superb for use with planer boards or behind a 'bottom
bouncer' concept. Other 'models' such as the 'just bait'
series can be used ( the small ones, primarily) for a number of
applications including drifting/trolling or 'in the mud', or to
slowly 'drag by' sitting fish, and for use under a slip bobber
rig or bottom bouncer - some have a 'rig float' to keep
them up off bottom. All of the lures on this
page are hand made to ensure supreme quality and
reliability, and made by myself or a 'protégé',
and with primarily American made components. In some cases
Mustad hooks ( Norwegian made) will be used, on others, Eagle
Claw hooks. I offer these simple yet effective tools
to you - because I'm semi retired - quality comes first They're
as competitive as I can make them, and in MOST CASES, there is
nothing on the market today that is the same
- they are unique! In ALL CASES - I use what I sell,
and as a pro, and have done the R&D and testing on all of
them over my extensive 40 + year as a pro'.

simple, effective 'strategies' that work -
and NOT AVAILABLE

In each of the 'model series'
you'll see the subtle differences that make them
UNIQUE - please read them - these subtle differences
are the KEYS to you using them extremely effectively as
an ardent/pro fisher. If you have more questions before

As you'll see, they 'start off' with the most simple, then
'generally' get larger - or heavier as they progress down the
page. Be aware that some will have all the
weight needed to use for most fishing applications - other models
will offer the unequaled opportunity for you to CHANGE AT WILL
the weight and size of the lure to take advantage of different
wind/trolling speed or species of fish, depth and color -
and VERY AFFORDABLY catch fish. These 'quick change' models
don't have the extra weight - you supply them -
using inexpensive egg sinkers - available at most tackle
shops. Egg sinkers are one of the least expensive 'sinkers'
on the market, overall. I simply could not sell the rigs as
cheaply, if I were to include the egg sinkers and send 'em
through the mail - it'll be far cheaper for you to
supply your own egg sinkers - and this way you get the
versatility you want - not my perception of your needs!
The 'industry driven' concepts of some of the other
'manufacturers' is that they want you to buy, buy, buy, and fill
your tackle box with very expensive lures - that promise
you the world.

A FEW 'NEEDED' WORDS ABOUT FISH
HOOKS!
That's simple
- keep 'em - 'past needle sharp'! When it comes to the
hooks used on 'my stuff' I use either Mustad or Eagle claw - no
exceptions - to obtain the best quality, affordably. I've
used the 'right choice' of hook for the various rigs/lures - out
of thousands of choices. In regards to sizes to choose/use,
here's a general rule of thumb that works for most fishers!
The larger the hook's number - the smaller the hook, and as in
the case of the Just Bait or Drifter
series here, size 14 is the smallest, and 3/0 the largest.
This rule of thumb holds true with both treble and
single hooks. Also, generally, when selecting a treble
hook, most fishers will use a size smaller than their 'preferred'
single hook size, owing to the treble hooks added bulk of the
extra hooks. The 'case in point' or example would be, a
fisher that likes a size 8 single hook, will most often prefer a
size 10 in a treble hook. This may work in reverse for
larger fish such as walleye/pike, though. Here are the
GENERAL preference range for MOST fishers and sizes: Single hooks
from size 14 to size 8 for 'gills and smaller crappie: size 8
through 4 for SLAB crappie, speckled trout and perch: Sizes 6
through 2 for walleye/smallmouth up to four lbs, and from 4
through 1/0 for larger walleye/pike. For musky and large
pike, and consistently over five lb walleye, some will use hooks
from 1/0 to 3/0.
For Treble hook use,
most prefer from size 14 through 8 for 'gills and smaller
crappie. For perch, slabs and speckled trout, most like
trebles from 12 through 8. For Smallmouth bass and walleye
up to four lbs, most use trebles in the range from eight to two.
For larger walleye, small pike, most like trebles size four and
two. I simply don't even have treble hooks bigger than this - but
if there's a call, I will carry them - let me know if you need
larger hooks, please.

BAIT' DRIFTER (series, of drifters)
These are simple, relatively
inexpensive 'rigs' that are used primarily when you just want to
use bait - with a small amount of added color and a very small
amount of weight ( or floatant, in the case of floater models)
- to get down and past smaller 'nuisance' fish, and get a
larger fish's attention! These have NO SPINNER BLADE - and are
superb for 'bait fishermen'! They can be used for simply casting
out and letting your bait settle to the bottom, then perhaps drag
it along the mud on bottom, or past a 'sitting' fish, such as at
spawning time. They can also be extremely effective for stream
fishing, in either slow or fast water - by simply adding extra
'slider weights' also sold ONLY here at this site (scroll
down) - or by using inexpensive larger 'egg' sinkers
available locally at your hometown tackle shop!
JUST BAIT DRIFTERS - a FEW examples! Above - small
for'gills/panfish - up to very large for walleye/pike! The beads
slide down to the hook when in use. Material used
( on
all 'Just Bait' Drifters) resists nasty teeth of predator
fish such as walleye/pike!
Gill & crappie fishers will
be extremely pleased to see that smaller 'models' are
available - as will walleye pike and musky fishers because the
line used to manufacture these is made to resist these large
toothed fish - and in the cases where the 'Just Bait' model is
likely going to be used for these larger 'toothed' fish,
they're made slightly longer - so you don't need to use an added
extra leader as many people do. EITHER single hooks or
treble hooks are available for extra holding power - but as a
'rule of thumb' - if you plan on releasing unwanted fish -
you're better off using a single hook over a treble hook, which
will harm the ultimate fish's chances of survival after
release.

'UL' series
is using a very small slider weight to 'balance' the lure/rig and
a small 'color' bead.
'F' series is a 'floater' rig and is when you want to keep your bait off bottom, as sometimes you need behind a bottom bouncer, or perhaps right 'on top' of the water for night fishing. There is no slider weight on the floater series.

Make no mistake - I've taken ten lb.
tail walking trout on these relatively little guys! Any
freshwater fish'll grab these like gumdrops! These are of
simplistic design - I've been using them for years - as have a
number of other 'pro' fishers! These are a stout Mustad hook
snelled onto nylon coated leader material - as compared to the
conventional rigid wire used by mass manufacture. The
flexible material allows/imparts for a MUCH MORE LIFELIKE
WOBBLE to the bait when the spinner blade revolves - and fish
just can't let 'em go by! Not only that but there's a small
'color' bead to get the fish's attention, and the blades are
SONIC 'inline' spinners which allows them to work at very slow
drifting/trolling speeds...
NOT EXACTLY AS SHOWN for professional reasons, but size and general format are depicted nicely! A size 8 single hook and size 10 treble hook are shown for size comparison reasons - John!
...These are made to use with LIVE BAIT,
and my favorite is a one or two inch tag of crawler - which makes
'em very 'bait' efficient! If using with live minnows,
I hook 'em through ( just behind) the lips, and they will
accommodate a couple maggots or wax worms, too. The live
bait just seems to work better than rubber - but of course, if
you'd like to use a tube jig
(poked full of your favored
scent - see below for tube injector, made for thick substances)
or piece of twister tail for added color/flutter - be my guest!
These come with either a single hook or treble hook, as you
prefer, and when the weight changes in this 'series' - the blade
size stays the same - so you can go
deep for suspended or bottom feeding bluegills or crappie.
The light model is for surface fishing, or perhaps behind a
bottom bouncer - or when the fish are in very shallow!
All of this series is 'headed up' with a swivel to keep line
twist to a minimum! A SILVER SONIC in-line spinner blade are used
all ALL 'gill/crappie drifters - plus one 'color' bead.
These are made of 10 lb. test nylon covered leader material - to
resist the larger predator fish's teeth that you'll ALSO
catch as a nice bonus! Colors available ( bead
only)opaque chartreuse, translucent chartreuse, crappie pink,
glow on black, and roe color ( trout). These are simply
'nasty' on steel head and speckled trout too! Sizes
available, 14 through 8 in single hook - DITTO for treble hooks,

-TIP: (I.e.; if you like a size 8 single hook hook for slabs, you'll likely prefer a size 10 in a treble). Most 'gill purists prefer the smaller sizes for neutral/negative bites on four lb test line. A size fourteen single hook is small - but a fourteen treble hook is 'stout' enough to withstand even most novice fishers, whereas a fourteen single may not be enough 'hook' for beginner/novice fishers, as they'll bend/break much easier than a treble hook.
ALL of these drifter's and various 'weights' below can be used with my 'weight stackers' (just below this 'drifter' section, scroll down, please) to make 'em run deeper, if need be!

These are the same
simplistic principle of all the other drifters, but using a
slightly larger sonic 'inline' spinner and heavier nylon
covered stanless steel material, and a 'proportionately' larger
single or treble hook. I love to use a short two inch tag of
crawler or minnow hooked through the lips on these - or if you're
able to achieve a very slow drift/troll - a small crayfish as the
'live bait'! Yes, you can use a tube or twister tail for
more color if you wish, but these very 'bait efficient' rigs do
well without all the extra color and 'drag' these add-ons impart,
causing 'lift' of your presentation. The 'optimum'
trolling/drifting speed of these is around 3.0 mph. These heavier
models are for digging down deep into those daytime honey holes!
All of this series is 'headed up' with a swivel to keep line

This 'model' is what I use
in most smaller lakes (using
either size 6 or 4 hook) for walleye up to five lbs - and they'll
take 'em even bigger, for those occasional lunkers. It's
simple, effective - and LOOKS HOME MADE - because it is!
This is a lure that works well for myself, and other 'pro'
fishers with the added point that most other fishers, should they
see you with it on your line - won't believe
you caught the fish you have with it. You can tell
'em it was made by yourself or your son - or better yet -
that you picked it up in a bunch of stuff at yard
sale - either way - they simply won't believe you, anyway!
A great way to help foil your competitors!
These rigs have floatant ( but don't float as per se, just ride
up higher when in motion, as all good bottom bouncer fodder
should, to help avoid snags). The 'lure section'( not the
leader) is made with nylon coated stainless steel braided wire to
resist walleye/pike's teeth, has TWO single hooks and a double
swivel system (models with leader) to help reduce line twist, a
three foot 14 lb test (low vis. green) leader; and comes in my
exclusive 'spawning dace' color for bright days; the darker
model is purple black (two-tone) - with contrast beads for dull
and low light days/evening; MY exclusive CRAWDADDY color is for
neutral/neg times ( trouble shooting - when nothing else will
work); and my 'GLOW on BLACK', is for night fishing, and very
stained water. The 'glow on black' is also a great
color to use for trouble shooting, I've found! The hooks
are a special sturdy hook I use almost exclusively - they're
extremely strong for their size, and are size six. For
larger walleye out in the great lakes that are consistently over
five lbs, you can have them with size four or larger hooks if you
prefer . If the water you're fishing has smallmouth, you'll
devastate them with these, and they're simply savage on pike,
too! Use the bright colors on bright days and the dark
colors on the dark days, and dark or 'glow on black' for night
and very late fishing when walleye come up into the shallows to
feed, last thing before absolute dark.
